The big day is just around the corner!

St. Patrick’s Day?

Well, that’s going on too. But at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 20, the winner of the Friends of the Rochester Hills Library’s 60th Anniversary 60/40 raffle will be chosen!

As of March 16, the Friends have raised over $20,000 for the 60/40 pot and that is expected to rise in the days before the drawing. The winner gets 40 percent of the final pot, minus any required taxation. The larger cut goes to the Friends, the library’s non-profit support arm. It is intended to make up lost revenue from money raising events curtailed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

So if you’re feeling the luck of the Irish (or any other fortunate vibe) and want to better your chances, the easiest way to enter NOW is on the internet. Click on the “Visit the Friends of the RHPL” line in the CONNECT section at rhpl.org to buy a ticket via credit or debit card via Pay Pal. You’ll be mailed an entry confirmation. Entries close at noon, Saturday March 20.

Note well: The Friends group wants to make the drawing as transparent as possible. But because of pandemic regulations that prohibit large gatherings, the Friends will stream the drawing live on the internet via the Library’s Facebook page, which is @rochesterhillspl. The program will begin at 2 p.m. Participating in the drawing are Library Board President Bob Bonam, Oakland Twp. Supervisor Dominic Abbate, Rochester Mayor Stuart Bikson and Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan Barnett. The officials lead the three communities the library serves. Hosting are Library Director Juliane Morian and Friends President Ron Meegan. A recording of the drawing will be available on the Library’s Facebook site after the event, as well.

So log in and watch the excitement as we make the first day of spring a little bit sunnier for a lucky library supporter, no matter the weather outdoors.
