Lagniappe Festival Turns Rochester Into Sea Of Holiday Lights

"The Big, Bright Light Show" highlights the event, which runs in downtown Rochester from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday.

ROCHESTER, MI — Downtown Rochester’s 45th annual Lagniappe Festival will feature “The Big, Bright Light Show” Monday evening. None other than Santa Claus himself, with help from Mayor Cathy Daldin, will hit the switch that will turn downtown into a sea of holiday light.

The program will begin at 6:45 pm on E. Fourth Street. Lagniappe, which is Creole for “a little something extra,” runs from 6-9 p.m. Traditionally, it’s a time for downtown businesses to give back to their customers with giveaways and special offers.

Santa will stay busy after the lighting ceremony by talking to kids of all ages until 9 p.m. Event organizers said Santa is prepared to listen to everyone’s Christmas list. Santa will be hanging out at the corner of E. Fourth and Main streets.
