Man Critical After Bike-Car Accident in Rochester Hills
Auburn Hills man in critical but stable condition at McLaren Oakland in Pontiac.

A 25-year-old Auburn Hills man was reported to be in critical but stable condition after a bike-car accident early Thursday at Livernois and Walton in Rochester Hills, according to Oakland County Sheriff's officials.Â
According to Sheriff's officials, the department's Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting Rochester Hills deputies with the investigation of the crash, which occurred at about 8:23 a.m. Thursday.Â
The Auburn Hills man was reportedly riding his bicycle eastbound on the sidewalk on the south side of Walton when he entered the roadway in the crosswalk while attempting to cross Livernois, the department indicated, when he was struck by a 2012 Volkswagen GTI driven by a 31-year-old Rochester Hills woman.Â

The driver and witnesses at the scene told deputies the driver proceeded through the intersection on a green light when she struck the vehicle. The Rochester Hills Fire Department arrived at the scene to treat the injured bicyclist, who was taken to McLaren Oakland in Pontiac with life-threatening injuries, where he was listed in critical but stable condition. The driver was not injured in the incident.Â
According to Sheriff's officials Friday, the bicyclist reportedly regained consciousness and was talking, but remains in critical but stable condition.Â

According to department officials, the driver was wearing a seatbelt, but the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
