OU Commencement Today: How Will Ceremonies Affect Traffic Around Campus?

It's Commencement Day for August and December degree candidates at Oakland University. Here's what you need to know.

When and where

Three ceremonies are planned at the Oakland Athletic O’rena.

  • 9 a.m.: School of Business Administration; School of Education and Human Services; School of Health Sciences; School of Nursing
  • 1 p.m.: All masters and doctoral graduates 
  • 5 p.m.: College of Arts and Sciences; School of Engineering and Computer Science; Bachelor of Integrative Studies

The ceremonies will be live-streamed at oakland.edu/outv/commencement.

Where to park

Parking is free and open to the public; see the attached PDF for details on parking lots available today.

What about traffic?

There are no planned road closings on or around campus today. Police officers and parking attendants will be on hand to direct traffic. For the 9 a.m. ceremonies, visitors are being instructed to enter campus via University Drive or Pioneer Drive and exit southbound on Squirrel Road.

For the 1 p.m. ceremonies, visitors will enter from University Drive, Squirrel Road or Walton Boulevard and exit onto Walton or Squirrel.

For the 5 p.m. ceremonies, visitors will enter from University or Pioneer Drive and exit onto southbound Squirrel Road.
