Patients of Doctor in Medicare Fraud Case to Meet in Rochester Hills

Dr. Farid Fata's patients and their families are invited to meet-and-greet Wednesday in Rochester Hills.

Patients of Dr. Farid Fata and family members of those treated by the oncologist accused in a Medicare fraud scheme have taken to Facebook to share their stories, and will offer an in-person meeting this week to lend support for those who might have been affected while under Fata's care.

The Facebook page Patients & Family Treated By Dr. Fata has offered a place online for former patients and family members of those who had been under Fata's care to network with others in similar situations. There were 879 members in the group by late Monday.

Fata, who lives in Oakland Township and operated Michigan Hematology Oncology, P.C., in Rochester Hills, was arrested earlier this month by FBI agents, accused of taking part in a $35 million Medicare fraud scheme that included administering chemotherapy to patients who were in remission or at end-of-life, as well as deliberately misdiagnosing a variety of afflictions in order to order expensive testing.

According to the Oakland Press, patients and family members are invited to attend a meet-and-greet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Concorde Inn, 1919 Star Batt Drive in Rochester Hills.

Those interested in attending can RSVP either via the group's Facebook page or by calling the Concorde Inn at (248) 299-1210.
