Rochester High Athlete Only Michigan Player Invited to All-American Game

James Young will play in a game that boasts Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson as alumni. Young was recently injured, though, and will miss this weekend's games.

Rochester High School basketball standout James Young will play in the McDonald's All-American Game in Chicago in April.

Young, a 6-foot-7 senior who has committed to play for the Kentucky Wildcats, is the only Michigan high school athlete chosen for the honor. 

Young transfered from Troy to Rochester this school year.

It's the 36th year for the all-star game; since 1978 more than 1,100 players have participated, including Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. The game raises money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The game will be played at 9:30 p.m. April 3 and will be broadcast live on ESPN.

Rochester (12-2), hosts back-to-back games this weekend. First up, Troy Athens High School Friday night at 7 p.m., then Romulus High School at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Detroit Free Press reports that Young injured his calf muscle and will not play in this weekend's games.
