Rochester Police Nab Man Suspected of 4th Drunk Driving Offense: Weekly Crime Report

ROCHESTER, MI — A man who breezed through a stop sign was busted for drunk driving - his fourth offense, according to a news release.

While a Rochester officer patrolled the area of Second and Walnut on Dec. 4 at approximately 2:00 a.m., he noticed a vehicle cruise through a stop sign without stopping. The officer conducted a traffic stop and reported the driver, a 45-year-old Sterling Heights man, showed signs that he had been drinking.

The man performed and failed field sobriety testing, and was transported to the Rochester Police Department. It was there that police discovered the man had been arrested and convicted of drunk driving three separate times prior to this incident.

Charges for operating while intoxicated 3rd or subsequent offense are pending the results of a blood test.

-Dec. 7 at 3:00 p.m.: Rochester officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of Ironwood Ct. the complainant claimed that an unknown suspect had damaged their apartment by breaking several of the windows with an unknown object. The case is under investigation.

-Dec. 6 at midnight: A Rochester officer was on patrol in the area of University and Main. The officer observed a car with several equipment violations and conducted a traffic stop near the East Parking Structure. The officer made contact with the driver, a 29 year old Lake Orion man. The officer immediately noticed signs that there was marijuana in the car and had the driver step out. The officer then located a small amount of suspected marijuana on the floorboard near the front passenger seat. The driver did not have a medical marijuana card. The driver was arrested and booked at the Rochester Police Department, he was later released with a misdemeanor ticket.

-Dec. 5 at 12:30 p.m.: A Rochester resident in the 1200 block of Letica reported that an unknown suspect filed tax returns using their information. The victim also claimed that they have recently noticed credit card fraud on their accounts. The case is under investigation.
