'Visions of Sugar-Plums' Performance To Benefit ALS

The event takes place on Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. Avondale High School.

ROCHESTER, MI — “Visions of Sugar-Plums” will be performed by members of the Pointe Academy Dance Center as part of the Annual Burt Meisel Holiday ALS Benefit at Avondale High School. The event takes place on Dec. 10 at 3 p.m.

A Pointe Academy dance dad, Meisel was diagnosed with this disease in 2008 and lost his battle one year later. Now in its 10th year, the benefit has raised close to $40,000 to battle ALS.

Doors for the show will open at 2:15 p.m. This year, the show will include a special performance by Karen Newman, singing her holiday classic "Christmas Eve on Woodward Avenue.” In addition, the show will include performances by Sponge guitarist and vocalist Andy Patalan, drum lines from Rochester Adams and Stoney Creek High Schools, dance teams from Notre Dame and Rochester Adams, photos with Santa, sing along, and raffle drawings with incredible prizes.
