This past year has highlighted the importance of participating in the political process as never before. The need and desire for change has been seen through countless protests and while protests have gained headlines, real change takes place in the voting booth. So who should one vote for?
The Holy Quran provides this succinct guidance on the topic,
“Verily, Allah commands you to make over the trusts to those entitled to them, and that, when you judge between men, you judge with justice. And surely excellent is that with which Allah admonishes you! Allah is all-Hearing, All-Seeing.” (Chapter 4, verse 59)

The wording of this verse makes clear the need to engage in this process of selecting who is voted into office. And then we are guided that we should vote for the person we believe to be most qualified for carrying out the job and who, when elected, will govern with justice. This is essential not only in national elections, but one must participate in one’s local community as well. We should find out about our local school board, mayoral, congress member and other elections also. By voting we can ensure that our most talented and just people are voted into office as this is the surest way of bringing about a just and peaceful society in which everyone can prosper and develop to his/her best.

About Ahmadiyya Muslim Community:
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, reformist and fast-growing international movement within Islam. Founded in 1889, the Community spans over 200 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, established in 1920, is among the oldest American-Muslim organizations.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the only Islamic organization to believe that the long- awaited messiah has come in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) of Qadian, India. Ahmad claimed to be the metaphorical second coming of Jesus of Nazareth and the divine guide, whose advent was foretold by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad.
The Community believes that God sent Ahmad, like Jesus, to end religious wars, condemn bloodshed and re-institute morality, justice, and peace. Ahmad’s advent has brought about an unprecedented era of Islamic revival and moderation. He divested Muslims of fanatical beliefs and practices by vigorously championing Islam’s true and essential teachings.
