$2,500 In GOP Scholarships Go To Oakland County Graduates

Oakland County Republicans awarded $2,500 in college aid to local students through the Lincoln Scholarship Program.

From the Oakland County Republican Party: The Oakland County Republican Party is excited to award $2,500 to exceptional students as part of the 2017 Lincoln Scholarship Program.

The 2017 Lincoln Scholarship Program challenged local high school, college, and vocational students to exemplify values which “Make America Great” in an essay or other creative work.

Out of a large pool of applicants, three outstanding students were selected to receive awards based exclusively on the excellent quality of their work.

Molly Wagner, a 2017 graduate of Shrine Catholic High School in Royal Oak, was selected as the 1st Place $1000 Lincoln Scholarship winner. Molly plans to begin her studies at Grand Valley State University this fall majoring in Journalism.

Aubreigh Wachowski, a 2017 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Troy Athens High School, received the 2nd Place $500 Lincoln Scholarship award for her excellent submission. Aubreigh plans to continue her studies this fall at Grand Valley State University majoring in Business.

Cory Dubin’s exceptionally written poem titled “The Great Fight” earned him the prestigious $1000 Pam Williams Memorial Award from the Oakland County Republican Party. Cory, a 2017 graduate of Lakeland High School, plans to pursue a Political Science major at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

The Pam Williams Memorial Award recognizes exceptionally written submissions in honor of the late Pam Williams, former Oakland County Republican Party Secretary and lifelong educator.

Scholarship finalists will be honored at the 128th annual Oakland County Lincoln Day Dinner on Monday, June 19th, featuring distinguished author David Horowitz along with federal, state, and local elected officials.

“We’re very excited to recognize and assist these exceptional students in their pursuit of higher education. Molly, Aubreigh, and Cory represent the future leaders of our community, and we remain committed to creating opportunities to better the lives of future generations of Americans,” says Paul Stephens, Youth Chair of the Oakland County Republican Party.
