30 Days of Giving, Day 27: HAVEN
Do you know someone who has been impacted by domestic violence? Help HAVEN help them.

This is part of a 30-day series of ways Patch community members can give back this holiday season. We hope you'll take part in this 30 Days of Giving and take the spirit beyond the holidays, because there truly is need all year long.
Help fight against violence
HAVEN, a nonprofit organization with locations in Pontiac, Royal Oak and Bingham Farms, gives women, men and children who are being abused the tools they need to get out of violent relationships and live a healthy life.
It offers its clients a variety of services, including counseling, a 24-hour crisis line, prevention education, a safe shelter and more. Last year, Haven helped more than 25,000 men, women and children in Oakland County.

HAVEN offers community members a variety of ways to help its cause. There are numerous volunteering opportunities with the nonprofit, such as being a crisis line volunteer and working in HAVEN offices. Each volunteer job has different minimum requirements and duties; for a complete list of opportunities, visit the group's website at www.haven-oakland.org or call 248-334-1284, ext. 659.
Donations are always appreciated as well, both money and items for the shelter. HAVEN typically has 45 adults and children living in its shelter and provides living supplies and three meals a day. The shelter is in need of numerous items year-round, such as cereal, fruit, snacks, bottled water, gift cards, baby bottles, sheets, toilet paper, toiletry products and more.
