32 Apply to be Royal Oak Schools Superintendent
Board members will screen applications Thursday, then conduct interviews in April to replace retiring schools chief Thomas Moline.

The Royal Oak Board of Education has 32 applications for the position of schools superintendent to sort through at its meeting on Thursday, according the district’s search firm.
“It is a good pool of candidates,” said Marie Miller, consultant for the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB), which was hired to conduct the search for the district’s new chief.
The current superintendent, Thomas Moline, is retiring in June after five years with the district.

Applications were accepted up to 5 p.m. Friday. The names of the applicants remain confidential and will be referred to by number during the screening process when board members meet Thursday at 6 p.m. at the , 1123 Lexington Blvd., Miller said. The meeting is open to the public.
During Thursday's meeting, board members plan to select the candidates they wish to interview. Miller will extend an invitation to those candidates, and the names of those who accept the opportunity to interview will then be released, Miller said.

The school board plans to interview the candidates April 11 and 12 and April 20 and 21. A decision is expected by early May, with the new superintendent in place by July 1.
