All week: After a weekend of intense yard work, now is a good time to remind that all residents must separate yard waste from regular refuse. Items such as grass, leaves, spent flowers, garden plants and woody materials up to 2 inches in diameter are considered yard waste. This waste can be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on your regular trash pickup day in either a 32-gallon trash can with a yard waste decal facing the street or a Kraft paper landscape bag. Woody material 2-5 inches in diameter, less than 4 feet in length and tied securely will go in with your regular refuse. Visit the SOCRRA.org website for a complete list of yard waste items that can be composted. The city of Royal Oak does not pick up the following: stumps, root balls, dirt and sod. These materials must be disposed of privately. Yard waste curbside collection runs April through December. For more recycling and yard waste information, visit the yard waste guidelines page.
