A University of Michigan Football Star Touches Down in Royal Oak
John Wangler opens a sports shop on Wednesday that redefines performance apparel.
When you walk into the Co. 512 sports shop you’ll enjoy a unique experience, and that is how former star quarterback John Wangler wants it.
Wangler has been a part of the sports apparel world since graduating from the University of Michigan where he played under legendary Coach Bo Schembechler. Wangler, who has sold licensed sportswear for 25 years, is expanding by opening Co. 512, a building just north of downtown Royal Oak in the former Royal Music Center building. The building, which was built in 1919, is 10,000 square feet, including 1,800 feet of retail space and second floor lofts.
“We want to give our clients individual attention and direction,” said Wangler. “We have upscale, reasonably priced apparel for the athlete and the fan.”

“The kids are very excited that this business venture has come to fruition,” said Lorraine Wangler. “We have put a lot of work into making this shop a place where sports enthusiasts will want to continue to come and feel like they’re part of the family. We want to service and provide Adidas products for the individual consumer as well as the team participants.”
