Big Brother Is Casting Houseguests In Royal Oak

The popular CBS reality show is looking for this summer's crop of scheming houseguests.

Big Brother is sending contestant producers to Royal Oak to select “houseguests” for season 20 of the CBS reality show. According to an announcement from the Royal Oak Downtown Development Development Authority, anyone who would like to "have the adventure of a lifetime while competing for $500,000, all summer long" should audition.

Casting takes place Sunday, March 18, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Fifth Avenue Sports and Entertainment at 215 5th Ave. in Royal Oak.

A long-running reality competition program originally produced for British television, Big Brother pits houseguests – men and women from every age, race and social strata with a heavy emphasis on 20-somethings who look good in bathing suits – against one another in physical and intellectual challenges.

Winners become Head of Household, and can nominate peers for "eviction" from the Big Brother house. In addition to the upcoming season, Big Brother launched a celebrity edition in the United States this winter, after many years of producing Celebrity Big Brother in the U.K. The U.S. version featured Omarosa, Metta World Peace (the NBA player formerly known as Ron Artest), and Mark McGrath from the band Sugar Ray.

The eligibility rules for the non-celebrity version of the show are available on Big Brother’s website.

"You must be willing to live in the Big Brother house located in Los Angeles for approximately 100 days on such dates to be determined by producers in their sole discretion with approximately a dozen strangers where you will have little or no privacy,” is among them.

While applying in person is encouraged, the show also takes online applications. Be prepared to shed privacy early: questions on the application include height, weight and relationship status.
