City Of Royal Oak Holiday Closings, Trash Collection Schedule
Closings, Changes In Trash/Recycling Collections For Royal Oak

All City of Royal Oak buildings will be closed for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. The city’s trash collection schedule will also be affected by the holidays. Most Royal Oak facilities will be closed Monday, Dec. 25, Tuesday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 1, but the Lindell Ice Arena will be open to welcome holiday skaters on Tuesday, Dec. 26.
The city will delay trash and recycling collection starting Monday, Dec. 25, so anyone whose usual garbage day is Monday will wait til Tuesday instead. According to a release from the City of Royal Oak, “The pattern will continue through the Christmas week, with Friday’s trash district picked up on Saturday, Dec. 30.” Trash and recycling pickup will also be delayed by a day next week, because New Year’s Day falls on a Monday, too. Anyone who has Monday pickup that week can expect trucks to roll on Tuesday, Jan. 2, instead of on Monday as usual.
Emergency services (police and fire) are, of course, open every day of the year, including during the holidays.
