'Coolest Toy Store Ever,' Other Businesses Headed to Downtown Royal Oak

Downtown is seeing some robust activity with a crop small businesses opening in the Central Business District.

Several new businesses are coming to downtown Royal Oak, according to city economic development manager Todd Fenton.

New businesses listed on the City of Royal Oak Facebook page include:

  • Iron Horse, a 58-seat eatery, will open this fall on Fourth Street.
  • A coffee and sandwich shop is coming to the old Caribou Coffee space in January.
  • The former Gemmayze space will be home to Michael Symon’s second B-Spot Burgers in the area.
  • 218 S. Main has been purchased by the Teftsis family, which operates Astoria on Main, and plans to redevelop the site into a mixed use project.
  • Meghan Marion, a women’s boutique clothing store, just had its grand opening at the former Elie Wine Shop on Main.
  • Factory Detroit, an ad agency, recently moved into the second floor at the former Citizen’s Bank building at Third and Center Streets.
  • MI Nutrition, a supplier of nutritional and fitness supplements is moving into the former Shapes space at 319 S. Main.
  • Gourmet Brownie could soon be coming soon to 117 W. Fourth St.

Those businesses are in addition to th new Toyology store coming to 119 S. Main St. this month.

Toyology already has a store in Howell, where its inventory includes toys, games, educational and learning tools, stuff for babies and more.
