Ron Thomas, of Inkster, has been to the Woodward Dream Cruise every year since it began except for once, when he was in the hospital.
"It brings back a lot of fond memories from when I was young," he said.
Thomas was enjoying the 2013 Woodward Dream Cruise on Saturday with his 1974 Volkswagen on display.
He got the car in 1978 after buying it from a junk yard.
"It was in a bad accident. I re-did it," he said, adding that it took him about two to three years. "It's a labor of love."
