First 'Cider Slush' Benefits Detroit Orchard

Proceeds from the Nov. 2 event will benefit a Detroit apple orchard and cider mill. It will be held at the Royal Oak Farmers Market.

ROYAL OAK, MI — Proceeds from a Thursday event held at the Royal Oak Farmers Market will benefit a Detroit apple orchard. The First Annual “Cider Slush” will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and feature a variety of drinks, yard games and raffle prizes. The event is sponsored by Wolverine Human Services.

Core Orchards, located on Mack Avenue on Detroit’s east side, is Detroit’s first “U-pick” apple orchard and cider mill, according to event organizers. The Royal Oak Cider event will have hard cider sampling, Fireball cider slushies, and food trucks for hungry patrons.

Raffle prizes include an Apple TV, Apple Watch, and Apple AirPods, courtesy of AT&T. The first 100 people to attend the event will receive one raffle ticket.

Tickets start at just $30 and include entry to the Cider Slush, four tasting tickets, one donut, and a one-year FREE annual membership to Fresh Era Detroit, a young professional group hosting cause-specific volunteering and networking events.

Those wishing to attend must be 21-years-old. Photo identification will be required before entering.
