Metro Detroit Flood Threat Continues Through Friday Evening: Updated
Several more rounds of heavy rainfall could send already swollen creeks and rivers out of their banks; another punishing commute possible.
Updated. METRO DETROIT, MI — A flood warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Friday in Metro Detroit, and continued rainfall could push the Rouge and Clinton Rivers to near flood stage, wit a chance they exceed minor flood stage, the National Weather Service said.
Several more rounds of heavy rain are possible through Friday in Metro Detroit, and persistent areas of showers and thunderstorms have already resulted in rainfall amounts ranging from 2 to 4 inches, and another 3 inches of rain is possible by Friday evening.
Urban flooding, especially in the Detroit area, is expected to continue. Rapid rises of rivers and creeks already swollen from recent rainfall will continue to pose hazardous conditions.
