Hot Start to the Work Week in Metro Detroit

There's a possibility of showers and thunderstorms in the area Monday before temperatures moderate.

Metro Detroit, MI — After a steamy Monday, temperatures will moderate to more seasonal levels, according to the National Weather Service.

The high will be around 92, prompting the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to again issue an air-quality alert in the counties of Oakland, Wayne, Macomb, Washtenaw and Livingston.

Monday: Partly sunny with a high near 92 and a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m.; west-southwest wind at 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 26. Monday night: A 30 percent chance of showers before 8 p.m.; mostly clear, with a low around 65.; west wind 7 to 16 mph becoming north after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82; west wind 6 to 10 mph.Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60; west wind 5 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Wednesday night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms; mostly cloudy, with a low around 61.
