Man Shot, Killed By Police After Stabbing Mom: Police
BREAKING: The 20-year-old also hit his father on the head with a guitar, police reported.

ROYAL OAK, MI – A 20-year-old man was shot and killed by a police officer after a domestic incident Monday morning, reported police. The man apparently had stabbed his mother before trying to attack a police officer.
The attacker has been identified as Cody Reynolds of Royal Oak. Police reported that officers were called to the home in the 1000-block of Hoffman Avenue at a 3:11 a.m. Monday. A woman who called 911 told police that she had been stabbed by her son and that he also attacked his father by hitting him on the head with a guitar.
When police arrived in the neighborhood, an officer saw Reynolds walking along Hudson Avenue between McLean Avenue and South Wilson Avenue, police reported in a statement released on Monday.

The officer ordered Reynolds to stop. Reynolds told the officer he had just stabbed his mother and approached the officer. As Reynolds neared the officer, he abruptly got on the ground, but then quickly rushed towards the officer in an aggressive manner, police reported.
As the officer backed away from Reynold, the officer fired at him. The officer immediately began to administer first aid as an emergency crew responded. Reynolds was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His parents also were taken to the hospital with injuries from the attack. Their injuries are not serious, police said.
Reynolds was on probation for a 2017 conviction for operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious injury.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident. The officer involved in the shooting, who has not been identified, was not injured. Per police department procedure, the officer has been put on leave pending the investigation.
