Michigan Hosts Penn State, College Football: Everything You Need To Know

Kickoff time, TV, point spread, tickets, parking, traffic and more.

For the first time this season, Michigan was tested as Colorado jumped on top of the Wolverines 21-7 to start the first quarter Saturday. Coach Jim Harbaugh’s team, though, showed its mettle as Michigan responded with 17 unanswered second quarter-points and eventually pulled away to a 45-28 victory.

Sophomore linebacker Jabrill Peppers showed again why he is one of the more esteemed defensive players in the country as he recorded nine tackles (including 3.5 behind the line of scrimmage) and added a 54-yard punt return touchdown. On the offensive side of the ball, tight end Jake Butt helped pace the Wolverines with 7 receptions for 87 yards, while running back De’Veon Smith ran for 87 yards and a touchdown.

Penn State has scuffled this season, losing to Pittsburgh 42-39 in Week Two before edging Temple 34-27 on Saturday. This does not bode well for the Nittany Lions as the Big House has become one of the more difficult stadiums to visit. If Penn State is to spring the upset, quarterback Trace McSorley will have to perform even better than he did against Temple (287 passing yards, 1 TD) and the Nittany Lions’ rushing attack will have to exploit Michigan’s propensity for allowing big plays. That, however, is unlikely.
