No New Year's Eve Ball Drop in Royal Oak, but Plenty of Others to Choose From
Royal Oak warehouse storing big 'D' to drop in Detroit, while other cities outstate plan their own droppin' festivities.

Royal Oak enjoyed its first , but this year it was . There are plenty of other ways to ring in the New Year in town, of course, but if you have your heart set on a ball drop, there are alternatives.
The Drop, now in its second year, will turn the Compuware Atrium and Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Detroit into a New Year's Eve party destination, with food, drink, music, dancing and psychic readings, in addition to dropping a 7-foot-tall red D, the Huffington Post Detroit reported.
In fact, in the big red D is sitting in a warehouse right here in Royal Oak, the Free Press reported. AV7 Productions of Rochester created the illuminated “D,” sponsor Motor City NYE said.

Elsewhere, balls will drop in Ludington, Marquette, Grand Rapids, Midland, Jackson and Hastings. Traverse City's will drop one that looks like a cherry, of course, and an environmentally friendly orb will drop in Kalamazoo, the Free Press said.
