Police Blotter: Car, Purses, Bikes Stolen; Homes Invaded

The following information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Highlights from Royal Oak Police Department reports from the week of March 9-15:

Homes invaded

  • 3200 block of Greenfield, March 9: A woman reported a male opened her front door and then fled when he saw her inside. Royal Oak officers responded and found the juvenile suspect riding a moped. The juvenile was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. It was further determined the moped was stolen. The suspect was charged with home invasion, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of stolen property.
  • 400 block of Cambridge, March 11: A woman reported someone forced entry into her home through a second story window and stole her television.
  • 1000 block of West 11 Mile, March 11: A woman reported someone entered her unlocked home and stole a laptop computer and jewelry.
  • 1100 block of Genesee, March 13: A man reported someone broke his rear door window, entered his home and stole a television, stereo system and other miscellaneous items.

Car stolen outside Emagine

  • , 200 N. Main, March 11: A woman reported someone stole her maroon 2002 Chrysler Sebring while it was parked in the parking lot.

Purses, locker contents stolen at businesses

  • , 222 E. 11 Mile, March 8: A woman reported someone stole her purse.
  • , 3601 W. 13 Mile, March 9: A woman reported someone stole her purse and wallet.
  • , 25352 Woodward Ave., March 14: A man reported someone stole his backpack, wallet and clothes from an unlocked locker.

Bikes stolen

  • Royal Oak Public Library, 222 E. 11 Mile, March 12: Complainant reported someone stole his bicycle while it was parked in front of the library.
  • , 1500 Lexington, March 9: Complainant reported someone stole her bicycle from the bike rack.
  • 600 block of South Washington, March 11: Complainant reported someone cut his lock and stole his bicycle.

Vehicles vandalized, broken into

  • 1500 block of West Houstonia, March 10: A man reported someone broke the side windows of his vehicles. Nothing was stolen.
  • Emagine Theatre, 300 N. Main St., March 10: Complainant reported someone maliciously scratched the door and hood of her vehicle while it was parked in the structure.
  • 2400 block of Galpin, March 11: A man reported someone broke the driver’s window of his vehicle.
  • 400 block of Ninth Street, March 11: A woman reported someone maliciously scratched the driver’s side of her vehicle.
  • 600 block of South Minerva, March 11: A man reported someone scratched his vehicle.
  • 27000 block of Woodward Avenue, March 9: A man reported someone forced open the driver’s window to his vehicle and stole a sub-woofer and amplifier.
  • 1500 block of West Houstonia, March 12: A man reported someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole an undisclosed amount of money.

Other incidents

  • Fourth Street and Lafayette, March 8: A woman reported another driver approached her car while she was stopped at a red light and hit her door with his knee causing a dent. The other driver was mad because complainant was driving too slowly.
  • , 30852 Woodward Ave., March 8: Royal Oak officers responded to the report of three subjects in the drive-thru of the pharmacy trying to pass a fraudulent prescription. Officer’s investigation led to the two passengers being arrested for prescription fraud and the driver was arrested for possession of marijuana
  • 13 Mile and Crooks, March 8: A woman reported her vehicle was stolen in Franklin Township. The suspect had contacted her and asked her to bring $200 to the corner of 13 Mile and Crooks to get her vehicle back. Royal Oak officers located the suspect in the stolen vehicle and arrested him. He was charge with possession of stolen property.
  • Lincoln and Woodward Avenue, March 8: Royal Oak officers located a vehicle suspected of a larceny in Berkley. Berkley Police arrived and took custody of the suspect.
  • 1200 block of West Farnum, March 10: A woman reported someone pried open her storage unit in the basement of her apartment. Nothing was missing.
  • , 401 S. Main, March 12: Complainant reported someone damage the bench in front of the business.
  • , 905 S. Main, March 12: A man reported someone shot his window with a BB gun pellet.
