Police Blotter: Cell Phone Snatched, Home Invasions

Here are the highlights from Royal Oak police:

Men in Saturn Snatch Cell Phone from Pedestrian

A man told Royal Oak Police someone snatched a cell phone out his hand on Sunday while he was walking down Main Street near Pinegree. The victim reported that three men in an older model Saturn pulled up and asked to use the phone. The passenger in the Saturn then reached and grabbed the phone out of the victim's hand and the car drove away. When the man attempted to chase the car to retrieve the phone, his clothing got caught on the vehicle and he was dragged for a short distance.

Home Invasions

1400 block of South Washington, Feb. 9: A man reported that someone entered his unlocked house and stole a computer and an iPad.

700 block of Knowles, Feb. 13: A homeowner reported that an ex-tenant kicked down the door of the home and entered to escape the cold. Police say they arrested the intruder for entering without permission. 

Attempted Auto Theft

1000 block of North Kenwood, Feb. 9: A woman told police someone attempted to steal her blue 2002 Chrysler Sebring. Police say the driver's door lock was punched and the ignition was pulled.

Larcency

Sherman & South Washington: Feb. 13: It was reported that someone broke into a meter and stole the inner canister.

Other Incidents

1100 block of Cherokee, Feb. 12: A homeowner reported that he discovered an unknown person sitting in his living room. A police report said the homeowner briefly struggled with the intruder before the person left the house. The intruder was later arrested for unlawful entry, assault & battery and disorderly conduct. 

2400 block of Parmenter, Feb. 10: A woman told police that an unknown person was attempting to open her front door. Police say the victim was unable to provide a description of the person, who eventually fled the scene.

Meijer, 5150 Coolidge, Feb. 13: A police report says two people stole various items from Meijer on Monday. Security caught suspects in the parking lot and recovered all of the merchandise except a car stereo.

Meijer, 5150 Coolidge, Feb 14: Police arrested a retail fraud suspect after he attempted to hide from officers in a store bathroom. Police say they struggled with the man during the arrest. He was charged with retail fraud and resisting and obstructing an officer.
