Royal Inn Motel Owner Takes Township To Court

Less than a week after the Royal Oak Township motel was closed for safety concerns, the owner is ready to fight to get it reopened.

ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP, MI — Less than a week after seeing his Royal Inn Motel closed by Royal Oak Township officials over safety concerns, owner Chandresh Shah is fighting back. He intends to take the township to court after he claims it did not give him the full 90 days to correct problems at the Eight Mile Road motel, according to a WJBK-TV report.

"The building inspector gave us notice on July 10 to rectify some things by 90 days and after 50 days they just came and put the notice (up) -- I still have 40 days left," Shah said.
The owner says there's nothing wrong with the motel. In fact, he says he even calls this motel home. "I live here on property with them. This is all my family ...This is my residence," Shah said.
