ROYAL OAK, MI — Royal Oak police are asking residents in a four-street area to shelter in place and lock their doors as they handle a police situation on Oliver street.

Police officials said Saturday evening that they are at a contained but active police situation in the 2700 block of Oliver, with gunshots having been fired from a house.

Police have asked residents in the immediate area of Oliver, Galpin, Glenview and Glenwood to shelter in place, lock their doors, stay away from windows and take cover in their basements if possible.
