UPDATE: Heavy Rain, Wind Leave Behind Flooding, Power Outages
Line of storms has moved out of the area.
9:06 p.m.: Scattered power outages
DTE Energy's power outage map shows two areas of 200+ customers without power and several other small outages in the 48073 ZIP code and scattered outages elsewhere, including:
- 281 customers affected in the area by Normandy Oaks Golf Course, between 14 Mile and Normandy, east of the railroad tracks. Restoration is expected by 11 p.m.
- 281 customers affected between 12 and 13 Mile roads east of Greenfield (mostly in Berkley) with restoration expected tomorrow night.
- 53 customers affected in an area by 12 Mile west of Crooks. Power is expected to be restored Thursday night.
6:16 p.m.: Severe thunderstorm warning canceled
The line of storms has now moved out of the area.
5:40 p.m.: Storm alert upgraded to warning
The National Weather Service has updated its storm alert to a severe thunderstorm warning until 7 p.m. for Royal Oak and all of Oakland County in addition to Lapeer, Macomb and St. Clair counties in southeast Michigan.

At 5:37 p.m., edt, NWS doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. These storms were located along a line extending from North Branch to Oxford, and moving northeast at 40 mph. Additional strong storms were located from Emmet to Richmond. Penny size hail may also accompany these damaging winds.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to flash flooding, the weather service said. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
1:38 p.m.: Severe Thunderstorm Watch in Effect Until 7 p.m.
You'd never know it by looking outside now, but there's a chance of severe thunderstorms for Royal Oak and the rest of southeast Michigan until 7 p.m.
For those with baseball games, summer camps, concerts or other outdoor activities planned today, this is not good news.
Otherwise, today's weather is expected to be partly cloudy and windy with a high temperature of 82 degrees and SSW winds at 15-25 mph, according to the National Weather Service. There's a better chance of showers and scattered thunderstorms tonight, with a low of 66 and calmer winds of 10-20 mph.
