Starbucks Evacuated In Downtown Royal Oak, Woman Sent To Hospital

A carbon monoxide leak forced the Starbucks at Third and Main streets to close.

(UPDATED) ROYAL OAK, MI — A carbon monoxide leak forced the downtown Royal Oak Starbucks in to be evacuated and sent one woman to the hospital, according to CBS Detroit report. Royal Oak authorities are asking the public to avoid the area — Starbucks sits at the corner of Third and Main streets.

“Royal Oak Fire Lt. Craig Strauss said dangerous levels of co2 were detected in several connected businesses which also had to be closed. This includes Ameristar, located on the floor above Starbucks where carbon monoxide detectors went off at around 3 p.m.”
“The woman taken to the hospital suffered symptoms related to carbon monoxide exposure. Fire officials said other people may have been affected by the leak, but they declined to go to the hospital.”
