City Of Saline Announces Limiting Certain Operations To Mitigate Spread Of COVID-19 Virus

These measures will not impact critical services such as drinking water, police, fire, emergency operations, waste and recycling collection.

At the recommendation of the Washtenaw County Health Department, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Governor Whitmer’s Emergency Declaration and local public safety officials, the City of Saline is limiting certain operations in an effort to mitigate the risks and slow down the spread of the COVID-19 virus. These measures will not impact critical services such as drinking water, police, fire, emergency operations, waste and recycling collection, however, some city functions may be modified. The following operational changes will be in effect at least until April 5, 2020:

Note: The City will continue to monitor this rapidly evolving situation and coordinate closely with our local partners, including Washtenaw County Health Department and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, to determine if further changes to operations are needed. Beginning on Friday, March 13, through Sunday, April 5, 2020, please be advised of the following:

  • The Saline Recreation Center will be closing on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 10pm through at least April 5, 2020.
  • The Saline Board of Review will meet as scheduled – March 16, 18, 20, 2020 (please contact the City Assessor at 734-429-4907, ext. 2208 or email at pzamenski@cityofsaline.org
  • All outdoor parks and trails will remain open for general use.
  • The weekly Saline Farmers Market will be closed beginning on Saturday, March 14, 2020 through at least April 4, 2020.
  • Some board and commission meetings will be cancelled, so please check the City calendar for the most up-to-date information.
  • City Council and Planning Commission meetings will take place as scheduled, however, regarding the City Council meetings we do encourage the public to take advantage of watching the livestreamed meetings or accessing the City’s website to watch the recorded Council meetings.
  • The recycling area located in the City Hall lobby (foyer) will be closed during this time. Additionally, the Big Red Barrel prescription drug drop off will also be suspended until further notice.
  • Residents and business owners are encouraged to pay utility bills and property taxes on line.
  • Residents and business owners are encouraged to call or email City departments to apply for permits and other inquiries rather than visit City Hall (please see the contact list below).
