Oil Company Uses State Law to Force Saline Couple to Sign Over Rights
Do you think oil companies should have the power to gain access to your property without your consent?

AnnArbor.Com is reporting that Saline couple Lorie and Mike Armbruster have negotiated a non-developmental land lease agreement with Paxton Resources LLC. The agreement was reached after the oil company started the process of trying to obtain the oil and mineral rights to the Armbrusters property through the state, without the couple's consent.
The article states that the Armbrusters have been denying the company's request for them to sign a lease for the mineral rights for at least the last three years.
As a result, the company moved ahead with a state hearing to try and obtain the rights without the couple's permission - something allowed under Michigan law.
Armbuster told AnnArbor.Com that she and her husband felt they had no choice but to negotiate a deal. The non-developmental agreement will make it so the company cannot use any part of their land.Â
