Saline Area Players hold Auditions for Directing Workshop

Saline Area Players hold auditions for Curtain Up: Directing Workshop March 15 & 16. Interested actors/directors encouraged to audition.

Have you been hoping to try your hand at directing? Try this interactive directing workshop experience in which participants will be treated to hands-on guidance, support and training while preparing scenes for performance.

Curtain Up: Directing Workshop is a chance for any would-be director to learn the basics about directing. Participants chosen during auditions will be designated as directors and/or actors. Rebecca L Groeb, well known for her theater work in Saline - she began in the Saline Area Players as a child and is the current Cultural Arts Specialist/Theater Manager for Saline Area Schools - is the artistic director/instructor for the project. Those chosen will benefit from a 3-hour director training during the first week. Following that, during four weeks of rehearsal, plus a show week, participants will work on 4-5 chosen Neil Simon scenes and each participant will be involved in 1-2 scenes. Rebecca will offer guidance and advice to the directors in a very interactive process where all will be afforded opportunities to give suggestions about directing choices. The cost is $50/person for this excellent instruction.

Auditions are March 15 & 16 at 7 PM (registration at 6:30), at Liberty School, 7265 N. Ann Arbor St, Saline. All persons (18+) will be asked do cold readings from a script and participate in improvisational activities.
