With regard to the charging station, council members will also consider an agreement with DTE to provide and install the station at a maximum cost to DTE of $12,500, with the city paying the rest, if anything.

Owners of the Ford Focus, Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf models would be able to recharge their vehicles at the station in the parking lot on the south side of East Henry Street, near the downtown water tower.

As part of the agreement, the city would not be able to charge a fees by the kilowatt-hour, but the city would be able to assess a nominal user fee. According to information provided to the city by DTE, a full, four-hour charge of a Ford Focus batter would cost about $2.

According to a memo from City Manager Todd Campbell to the City Council, there is still some concern about liability.
