Saline Scouts BSA Troop Starting for Girls Ages 11-17
Learn about Troop 439 the new all-female Scout BSA troop in Saline for girls ages 11-17. New members are now being accepted.

For the first time in its 100-plus year history young women will be allowed to earn the rank of Eagle Scout and become members of the Scouts BSA. Scouts BSA is a year-round program for boys and girls ages 11-17 that provides fun, adventure, learning, challenge, and responsibility to help them become the best version of themselves.
Last year, BSA added family scouting to Cub Scouts. Now, troops will be open for older girls who wish to go through the scouting program. Starting February 1, 2019, Troop 439 chartered by Tri-County Sportsmen's League, will do just that. The troop has an active committee of strong adult leadership including several Eagle Scouts, a plan for monthly camp outs, programming and gear ready to go.
"It's a program I believe in and I'm excited that now the door is open for girls to have a choice to participate," says Tammy Mayrend, Scoutmaster of the troop. "Our youth will have access to all the character development and values-based leadership that Scouting promises."

"I have been a scout leader for 10 years, watching firsthand the growth scouting has delivered to my son and all of my boys. I cannot wait to see what this new opportunity will do for my daughter, my troop and young women throughout the community."
