Ardmore Teachers Get A Special Goodbye

Two retiring teachers from Ardmore Elementary recently got a very special send-off by students and parents.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — A pair of retiring Ardmore Elementary teachers recently received a very special send-off from students and parents. Diane Smale and Debbie Tomich, who taught at the Lakeview Public Schools elementary for a combined 46 years, had a small garden and a Little Free Library built in front of the school in their honor.

“When my girls were growing up, they graduated from Lakeview. They said to me, ‘You need to get a life of your own,’” Tomich said. “Then they realized this is my life. This is hard. It took me three months to convince myself.”
“These two are just very special teachers,” Principal Chris Hahn said. “They help make Ardmore the school that it is.”
