2 Boats Catch Fire In St. Clair Shores Marina
Two men jumped off a boat that was on fire and swam to safety without injury, police said.
ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — Two boats caught fire around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in a St. Clair Shores marina, police said.
The vessels caught fire in the area of Ken's Gas Dock, located within Michigan Harbor next to Miller Marina, police said. Police said the boats were full engulfed in flames when they arrived to the scene.
One of the boats, a 26-foot bayliner, was adrift and thought to have just left the dock, police said. The other vessel was larger and was moored to the end of the dock, directly east of Ken's Gas Dock, according to police.

The fire on both boats was extinguished by the St. Clair Shores Fire Department and the Macomb County Sheriff's patrol boats, police said.
Police said two men on the bayliner had gotten gas from Ken's Gas Dock and left the dock. There was a loud explosion as the boat pulled away from the dock, police said, catching both boats on fire.

The two men jumped into the water, police said, swam to shore and ran from the scene. Both boats sank, police said, while several other boats in the area were damaged from the heat of the fire. No one reported any injuries, according to police.
