Deadbeat Dads, Moms: Pay Up Or Else, Sheriff Says
The Macomb County Sheriff's Office will do a week-long sweep to arrest parents with outstanding warrants for child support non-payment.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — Deadbeat parents listen up: The Macomb County Sheriff and his deputies are coming for you — soon. The sheriff’s office is teaming up with with Macomb County’s Friend of the Court to conduct a week-long sweep of parents with outstanding warrants for non-payment of child support starting Dec. 4.
The sheriff’s office announced the sweep Monday with the idea of giving those that owe a chance to make it right, according to Macomb County Sgt. Renee Yax. She said arrest can be avoided by appearing at the Friend of the Court’s office.
Parents who voluntarily appear will be given the chance to have their case reviewed to determine if they qualify for a special program that can help substantially reduce state-owed arrearages, Yax added. The Macomb County Friend of the Court Office is located at 10 N. Main St in Mt. Clemens.

During the sweep, extra sheriff’s office resources will be used to arrest those with warrants that don’t come forward, Yax said. In addition, the sheriff’s office will field calls with tips as to the whereabouts of those with warrants. She asked that those calls be directed to (586) 469-5756 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
