DPW Clearing Streets

Crews are working to clear the streets in St. Clair Shores of leaves before winter.

Street sweepers are heading out through the city clearing leaves, according to a post on the city Facebook page.

This is not a pick-up service as residents are not allowed to rake leave from their property into the street, and anyone found doing this will be ticketed, the post stated.

Crews are picking up the leaves leaves on the street before they freeze and cause ice problems, or end up clogging the catch basins, the city stated.

Trucks started in the south end of the city, and during four- to six-weeks, will work north.

According to the city, the first truck uses a plow blade on wheels to push leaves into a pile, with the next crew following behind with the log loading truck to pick-up the piles of leaves. Street sweepers then follow to finish the job.
