Elementary School in St. Clair Shores Collecting Used Shoes for Charity
Take old shoes to one of three different area locations; will be sent to other countries.

(Posted Nov. 14, 2016) ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — How many pairs of old shoes do you have sitting around the house? You can turn those shoes into money for a local school and also help put shoes on the feet of people around the world who otherwise go barefoot. Students at the district's Masonic Heights Elementary are collecting shoes for the Funds2Orgs charitable organization, which will in turn donate the footwear to a business-training program for people in developing nations, the St. Clair Shores Sentinel reported.
In return, the school gets 40 cents per pound of shoes in good used condition, students get a lesson in citizen diplomacy and and is a fundraiser that takes the pressure of children and parents to solicit "people to buy stuff," Dyan Quinn-Scanlan, president of the Parent Teacher Organization at the school, told The Sentinel.
Shoes will be collected through Dec. 15 at the following locations:

- Madison Heights Elementry, 22100 Masonic Blvd., St. Clair Shores
- Convenient Care Urgent Care, 34336 Harper Ave., Clinton Township
- Lake Shore Presbyterian Church, 27801 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores
Also, shoes may be donated at the school’s Turkey Trot 5K at Veterans Memorial Park 3:45-5:45 p.m. Nov. 9.
