Heat Index Could Soar to 100 in Metro Detroit Wednesday
The urban corridor from southern Macomb County through Wayne and eastern Washtenaw counties will be especially uncomfortable.

METRO DETROIT, MI — Heat indices will be around 100 Wednesday and the warm humid air mass will fuel increasing risk of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday into Thursday, the National Weather Service.
A heat advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. Wednesday night in Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne Counties. If you work or spend time outdoors, wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing if possible and drink plenty of water.
The urban corridor from southern Macomb County through Wayne and eastern Washtenaw counties is expected to experience the highest heat index during the mid-afternoon hours.

Here’s the forecast for the next two days:
Wednesday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m.; partly sunny, with a high near 92 and heat index values as high as 100; west-southwest wind 7 to 9 mph. Wednesday night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms; mostly cloudy, with a low around 74; light southwest wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the evening.

Thursday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms; mostly cloudy with a high near 86; west-southwest wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low round 65; west-northwest wind 6 to 8 mph.
