Hit-and-Run Report Ends in Arrest for Stolen Car

The following information is gathered from the St. Clair Shores Police Department. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

St. Clair Shores police arrested a 44-year-old Romulus man April 3 on several charges after a report of a hit-and-run accident near Little Mack and 11 Mile Road.

Officers were called about 10 p.m. for a hit and run accident in which the car drove away, according to a police report. Police said responding officers found the described getaway car in a driveway of the 28000 block of Little Mack with the driver's door ajar.

The resident identified the driver as her ex-boyfriend. She told police he stopped and then ran from the car. She provided police a description, and he was found trying to hide behind an air conditioner.

During his arrest, officers discovered the car was stolen from Detroit Metro Airport. While searching the car, officers also found a marijuana pipe with marijuana in it and a bag with marijuana seeds. All of it was confiscated into police evidence, according to a report.

He was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of marijuana, resisting an officer, failure to stop at the scene of an accident and driving on a suspended license. A passerby reported the hit and run with information about the fleeing car but police never received a call or report from the victim of the hit and run, so there are not charges related to that portion of the call.
