Macomb Community College To Hold Virtual Job Fair Nov. 5
More than 30 local employers with job openings representing a variety of industries will be participating.
Macomb Community College, in partnership with the Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Development Opportunity, will hold a virtual job fair, Thursday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m. Participants will be able to login and chat directly with representatives from companies in construction, health care, hospitality, IT, advanced manufacturing, banking and retail that have full- and part-time openings to fill.
Different employers will be available in the morning versus afternoon session, so participants can register for one or both sessions. When registering, participants will be asked to complete a personal profile and attach a professional resume. Once registration is complete, job seekers will have access to which employers are participating to be able to conduct research on the companies and openings available prior to attending the job fair.

“The best thing you can do to succeed at a job fair is to prepare in advance,” says Bob Penkala, director, Career Services, Macomb Community College. “Research the companies that are going to be there. Research the openings they have. Go over your resume one more time to make sure it’s error-free. This shows employers that you are interested and motivated.”
All encounters with employers begin as a text chat and may evolve into a video chat if the employer and job seeker’s interests align. Penkala recommends that participants dress professionally and be prepared with a well-rehearsed 30-second pitch to gain the attention of employers.
