Suspect In Fatal St. Clair Shores Hit-And-Run Turns Himself In

Police said the suspect turned himself in Wednesday afternoon.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — A suspect has turned himself in to St. Clair Shores police in connection with the deadly hit-and-run of a 26-year-old road worker on I-94 Monday, Michigan State Police troopers said Wednesday.

Police said more information pertaining to the suspect would be released as it becomes available.

The worker, described by police as a 26-year-old Chesterfield man, was killed after being hit by a passing vehicle on eastbound I-94, near 9 Mile Road, Monday. He was hit while near an orange road service vehicle, troopers said.

Troopers said Wednesday morning that they had located the vehicle they believe was used in a hit-and-run. The vehicle was located and is being processed for evidence, police said.

Police said they received several tips after a public callout Monday and Tuesday.

The vehicle that struck the worker fled the scene after the crash, troopers said. Police said they did not immediately have a description of the vehicle.
