Rockin’ the Shores Beer & Music Festival Saturday: All You Need to Know
Saturday's event also includes locally brewed craft beer, a bicycle ride to benefit Kids Without Cancer and lots more music.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — Some of Michigan’s best-known regional bands, including headliner Sponge, and locally brewed craft beers are featured Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Rockin’ the Shores Beer & Music Festival to be held at 22201 Nine Mile Road at Mack Avenue in downtown St. Clair Shores.
Hundreds of bicyclists are expected to kick off the event at 11 a.m. with the Nautical Ride to Rockin’ the Shores, an 8-mile ride to benefit Kids Without Cancer, an organization founded in 1981 to raise money to fund the pediatric cancer research at Children’s Hospital of Michigan and its affiliates, Wayne State University and the Karmanos Cancer Institute.
Beginning at 1 p.m., Atwater Brewery hosts a celebratory Oktoberfest-style tapping of the keg. A variety of craft beer will be available, including specialty brews just for the event from Atwater Brewery and St. Clair Shores local favorite Baffin Brewing Company.
Music acts, which start at 3:30 p.m. with Stone Clover, an Irish rock-and-roll band from Detroit; The Muggs, an internationally renowned American blues rock band from Detroit; and singer/songwriter Brian Vander Ark from The Verve Pipe, best known for his hits “The Freshman” and “Photograph.”

The headliner is Detroit’s legendary home-brewed rockers, Sponge, known for their Top 10 hits “Plowed,” “Molly (16 Candles Down the Drain)” and “Have You Seen Mary?”
Sponge features St. Clair Shores resident Vinnie Domboski on vocals, Bill Adams on drums, Tim Patalan on bass, and Kyle Neely and Andy Patalan on guitar. The band recently released its eighth studio record, “The Beer Sessions” The night of the festival, the band will be recording a new live CD, “Rockin’ the Shores Live.”

In addition to great music and beer, there will be a variety of food from local business and MotorCity Casino Hotel's High Octane Food Truck. Guests will also get to participate in games and shop in the beer vendor village.
A portion of the evening’s proceeds will also benefit Kids Without Cancer, the largest contributor of funds for pediatric cancer research at Children’s Hospital of Michigan.
