Sprint And Splash At Lake St. Clair Metropark Returns In August

The event, which promotes and celebrates Lake St. Clair, will mark its 10th anniversary this year.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — The Sprint and Splash at Lake St. Clair Metropark is returning in August, Macomb County officials announced this week.

The event, which promotes and celebrates Lake St. Clair, will mark its 10th anniversary this year.

“Last year we canceled Sprint and Splash due to COVID-19, so we are thrilled to bring it back this year for its 10th anniversary,” Macomb County Planning and Economic Development Program Director Amanda Minaudo said. “We’ve heard from many of our past participants who are excited to run, walk, kayak and paddleboard. I think we’re all ready to return to the park and get back to the races.”

People interested in participating in Sprint and Splash can sign up online here. All participants will receive a finisher medal, picnic blanket and swag bag. Officials said prices will increase on July 1, but currently, pricing is:

  • 5K Run: $35
  • Duathlon Individual: $40
  • Duathlon Relay: $70
  • 2 Mile Paddle: $35

Organizers are currently planning to have music, food and craft beer at the event, depending on health guidelines in place at the time of the event.

“We have plans in place to ensure the health and well being of every attendee,” Minaudo said. “Our goal, as always, is to have a safe event where people can have fun and enjoy the beautiful setting at Lake St. Clair Metropark.”
