St. Clair Shores Police Investigate Deep Facial Cut of Husband

St. Clair Shores police are investigating a domestic battery after emergency room staff called to report an injury to a 49-year-old man. Responding officers discovered the man had a 3- to 4-inch deep gash to his cheek, which was being tended to by emergency room staff.

The man reported that he and his wife had gotten into a fight March 28, both had thrown several items to the bedroom floor, including a porcelain pot that broke into many pieces, according to St. Clair Shores police. He told police the wife grabbed a piece of the pot and cut him. He drove himself to the hospital for treatment.

He reported his wife is in stage four of breast cancer and had been under a lot of stress. When officers went to the home to talk to the wife, she said she could not remember how the injury happened. She said they had been arguing all day and she wanted to go to be so she was trying to get him out of the room, according to the report.

Officers discovered all of the broken pieces on the bedroom floor along with blood splatters on the wall, which was photographed for evidence purposes. The 39-year-old woman was initially charged with aggravated assault, according to a report.
