Autopsy Ordered For Pilot Who Died In Grosse Ile Plane Crash
It's unclear if the pilot died due to injuries sustained during the crash or due to a medical condition, police said
GROSSE ILE TWP., MI — An autopsy has been ordered to help determine how the pilot of a plane that crashed in Grosse Ile Township Saturday died, according to Grosse Ile Police.
Police said the plane, a single engine Ultra Lite aircraft, crashed around 4:47 p.m. Saturday in the 27000 block of Loma Circle in Grosse Ile Township. The plane had overturned at the base of a tree behind a home in the area, according to police.
The pilot, 57-year-old Jeffrey Dean Oliver, of Lincoln Park, had been ejected from the plane, police said. Oliver was transported to Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

It remains unclear if Oliver died due to injuries sustained during the crash or due to a medical condition, police said. The autopsy will be performed by the Wayne County Medical Examiner, police said.
The crash is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board, police said.
