Local Podiatrist Offers New Wound Care Therapy
Office of Dr. Aaron Rives Trained in Stem Cell Therapy
Riverview podiatrist, Dr. Aaron Rives, recently travelled to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Strafford, CT to become one of a select few podiatrists in Metro Detroit trained to treat patients with stem cell therapy for wound care. Upon his return, Dr. Rives taught his office associate, Dr. Matthew Brown, the procedure, ensuring all patients of the practice are offered this treatment option.
Stem cell therapy is one of the latest advances in wound care. A small matrix patch is applied to promote healing by helping the body create new blood cells and skin around the affected area. The therapy aids in the prevention of the advancement of gangrene and infection. There is less scarring of the area and it can be used on all types of wounds and ulcers.
“I am excited to be able to offer this forward-thinking therapy to my patients,” said Dr. Rives. “This is a treatment that will enhance the healing process and can be administered right in our office. I am especially pleased to be able to offer this option to our diabetic patients that often deal with chronic wound issues.”
