Trenton Police Blotter: Tinted Windows Lead Police To Marijuana

The following information was supplied by the Trenton Police Department.

A 17-year-old was arrested Sunday, Nov. 17 after police found about an ounce of marijuana under the passenger seat of a 2001 Jeep.

The incident occurred about 8 p.m. on Fort Street and King Road. The report said the suspect was pulled over because the vehicle he was driving had “dark tinted windows and license plate lights that were not functional.” The officer said the driver seemed nervous, and when asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle replied “not that he was aware of.”

The suspect, a minor in Michigan, later confessed to a Trenton K-9 officer that he had marijuana in the vehicle. Upon searching the Jeep, Police found a black bag containing drug paraphernalia including two marijuana glass pips, a glass jar and scale. The minor was arrested, issued two citations and released on bond.

On Nov. 16, officers responded to a report in the 2800 block of William R Street pertaining to a hole that was cut in the South East section of the fence that secures the substation.

An overhead line worker discovered the large, 3-4 foot, triangle shaped hole and estimated that it was cut between 4 p.m. on Nov. 15 and 7 p.m. Nov. 16.  The worker said nothing appeared missing from the yard.

Also on Nov. 16, a man reported missing several items from his garage and backyard, including two radiators and a catalytic converter, in the 2400 block of Dickinson between September and early November. The man told officers that he was in the hospital during the time of the suspected theft.

Police arrested a man in violation of the Controlled Substances Act for processing marijuana without a valid medical marijuana card.

The report said the officer observed the suspect’s vehicle, a 2007 Dodge Dakota, make a prohibited right turn from Sibley Road onto southbound West Jefferson at about 10:30 p.m. Nov. 12. During the traffic stop, police said they could smell marijuana from inside the vehicle. The man admitted to having marijuana in a plastic shopping bag in the vehicle’s center console.

The suspect told police that he had renewed his card, which expired in May, but did not have the proper paperwork with him. He was taken to the police department and issued a citation.
